Apr 15, 2026 | 10:48 PM

The Medicine Hat Tigers defeated the Calgary Hitmen 5-2 on Wednesday night to complete the second-round sweep and advance back to the Eastern Conference Finals for the second time in back-to-back seasons.

They become the first defending champion to make it back to the Conference Finals since the Kelowna Rockets did it back in 2016.

Jonas Woo’s fifth goal of the postseason on the power play proved to be the eventual game-winner 14:56 into the second period.

Kade Stengrim would extend the Tiger lead back to two midway through the third period after Calgary’s Ethan Moore shrank the deficit back to one.

Ethan Neutens would add a late empty-netter to secure the 5-2 final and the series win for Medicine Hat.

Noah Davidson and Veeti Vaisanen also found the back of the net for Medicine Hat.

Calgary’s other goal came from Blake Vanek, who scored his first of the playoffs to tie the game at one.

Medicine Hat will take on the Eastern Conference Champion Prince Albert Raiders in the Conference Finals beginning next weekend in Prince Albert.
