Michelle Bene
April 26, 1980 ~ April 10, 2026
It is with heavy hearts the family of Michelle Dawn Bene announce her passing at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the age of 45 years. Along with her husband, Scott Lewry, Michelle leaves to cherish her memory: son, Ethan Sackett; daughter, Averie Lewry-Loomis; sister, Tonia (Soren) Hansen; sister by choice, Jen (Ray) Krobel; nephews, Richard Bene, David (Wynter) Bene and Brayden, Lucas, and Cohen Hansen; grandmother, Collene Schwarz and mother-in-law, Connie Koochicum. She was predeceased by her parents, Rick and Marianne Bene as well as her grandparents, Peter and Sharon Bene and Ludwig Schwarz.
Michelle was born, raised and graduated in Lethbridge before moving briefly to Quesnel, British Columbia. She returned to Alberta and made her home in several communities including Calgary, Carstairs and Pincher Creek, before eventually settling in Medicine Hat.
Michelle built a strong work ethic throughout her life, working in a variety of industries including retail, tire wholesale and positions with Canadian Tire, Walmart and Kirk’s Tire. No matter where she worked, she was known for her kindness, dedication and willingness to lend a helping hand.
On July 5, 2025, Michelle married the love of her life, Scott Lewry. Their relationship was filled with laughter, love and playful rivalry, especially when it came to hockey as Michelle proudly cheered for the Oilers while Scott remained a loyal Flames fan.
Michelle was sweet, funny and kind, with a gentle spirit that made everyone feel welcome. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: working on puzzles, camping, watching chick flicks and most of all, spending time with her family and loved ones.
Her greatest happiness came from being present for the special moments in the lives of her children and her nephews. She especially loved cheering from the sidelines, proudly watching games, particularly basketball. Some of her most cherished memories included the birth of her son and her wedding day, both moments she held close to her heart.
Michelle also had a special bond with her beloved dog, Niko, whom she welcomed into her life in October 2025.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the warmth, laughter and love she gave so freely to those around her.
