Apr 9, 2026 | 2:44 PM

Despite being off, it has been a busy week for the Medicine Hat Tigers who continue to rack up year-end award nominations around the Western Hockey League.

The Tabbies swept the three Eastern Conference nominees for the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy with Markus Ruck, Liam Ruck, and Bryce Pickford all being nominated.

Markus led all Canadian Hockey League skaters in points with 108 and also was nominated for the Brad Hornung Memorial Trophy, recognizing the leagues most sportsmanlike player.

Liam was not far behind Markus, sitting second in CHL scoring with 104 points.

Medicine Hat Tigers forward, Gavin McKenna, won the award last season and if either of the Ruck twins or Pickford wins the award, it would be the first time in 16 years that a team has had consecutive Four Broncos Memorial Trophy winners.

Pickford was also nominated for the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy, alongside blue-line partner Jonas Woo, recognizing the league’s top defenseman.

Both Pickford and Woo set franchise records this season with Woo setting a new franchise mark for single-season points by a blue-liner with 86, and Pickford a new single-season mark for goals by a defenseman with 45.

Medicine Hat Tigers Head Coach and General Manager, Willie Desjardins, was also nominated for the Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy and the Lloyd Saunders Memorial Trophy for Coach of the Year and Executive of the Year.

It is the fourth year in a row that Desjardins has been nominated for Coach of the Year, and the third time in the last four seasons he has been nominated for Executive of the Year.

The Medicine Hat Tigers begin the Eastern Conference semi-finals this Friday inside Co-op Place against the Calgary Hitmen.
