The Medicine Hat Cubs remain undefeated at the Alberta Jr. B Provincials in Lloydminster after a 2-0 win over the CNHA Black from Calgary.

They are on a nine-game winning streak and have not lost since their first playoff series on February 21 against the Carstar Okotoks Bisons.

Cubs netminder Kayne Wright had a 32-save shutout and was named player of the game for his team.

Defenceman Blake Girard opened the scoring for the Cubs five minutes into the second period. He had a quick release from the offensive faceoff zone circle after receiving a pass from forward Jesse Klimosko, who was down low. Forward Connor Chapman also drew an assist.

Captain Kyle Woolridge scored the second goal for the Cubs on the power play with 2:38 remaining in the second. He received a nice feed from alternate captain Austin Derzaph from near the left offensive zone faceoff dot, directing it past CNHA goaltender Liam Jackson. Forward Mason Osinski had the other assist.

The Cubs will take on the Sherwood Park Knights in their third game of the tournament tomorrow at noon.
