Wendy Joan Reiling (née Pennycook)
September 24, 1948 – March 25, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wendy Joan Reiling (née Pennycook), who passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, at her home in Southland Masterpiece, after a brave battle with Multiple Myeloma.
Wendy was born on September 24, 1948, in Drumheller, Alberta. It was there that she met her forever love, Clifford Reiling, while he was stationed in the community with the RCMP. Wendy and Cliff were married on May 24, 1969, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, strength, and unwavering support.
Together, they built a life filled with meaningful connections, living in various communities and forming friendships that quickly became like family. Wendy had a remarkable way of bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome and valued.
Wendy devoted many years to her career in education, where she touched and influenced countless lives. She worked at Crowsnest Consolidated High School as both an English teacher and guidance counsellor, roles she carried out with compassion, wisdom, and deep care for her students. Even beyond the classroom, Wendy continued to guide, support, and inspire those around her.
A strong and determined woman, Wendy stood firmly in her beliefs and was always ready to support anyone in need. Her strength was matched by her warmth and generosity.
Wendy found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She loved beading, golfing, cooking, and spending time socializing with those she loved. She was especially known for her elaborate dinner parties and took great pride in entertaining family and friends, creating lasting memories around her table.
Wendy will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, Clifford Reiling; her two wonderfully supportive sons, Scott (Tammy) Reiling of Vauxhall, Alberta, and Kyle Reiling of Sherwood Park, Alberta; and her five cherished grandchildren, Kyla, Eric, Nolan, Quinn, and Nora. She will also be lovingly remembered by her extended family and many dear friends.
Wendy faced her illness with courage and grace, leaving behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and deep love for her family.
In keeping with Wendy’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Instead, family and friends are invited to gather at a later date for a celebration of her life—just as she would have wanted, with food, laughter, and time spent together.
