RCMP advised of delays for westbound traffic Monday morning on the Trans-Canada Highway near Brooks

Mar 30, 2026 | 8:34 AM

Road conditions are showing improvement on the Trans-Canada Highway near Brooks.

On Monday morning, before 7 a.m., Brooks RCMP had issued an advisory for motorists of significant traffic delays affecting the westbound lanes on Highway 1.

Mounties had stated that harsh road conditions were impacting travel in the area, leading to slower traffic flow and potential hazards for drivers.

At the time, they were urging motorists to use caution and allow for extra travel time and had recommended avoiding non-essential travel.

As of early afternoon, road reports showed bare conditions from the Saskatchewan border to the Highway 36 intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway. From that intersection to the Highway 56 intersection, roads were showing as partially covered, then becoming worse towards Strathmore and Calgary.

Motorists are encouraged to follow Alberta 511 for the latest updates on road conditions and closures.
