City Centre Vibrancy Program returns to Medicine Hat in April

Mar 18, 2026 | 12:59 PM

The City Centre Vibrancy Program enters its second year in Medicine Hat.

The funding initiative aims to support local businesses and property owners with enhancing the visual appeal of their commercial space.

The program is a partnership between the City of Medicine Hat and Community Futures Entre-Corp. supporting improvement projects in the city centre by providing a combination of grant funding and interest-free loans.

To qualify for the financial assistance, applicants must be a business owner and/or the registered property owner of a commercial space located within a defined city centre boundaries.

Improvements eligible for funding include facade upgrades, signage, lighting, accessibility enhancements, and other improvements that contribute to a more welcoming and vibrant city centre.

“This program provides funding to help commercial property owners and tenants make lasting improvements that strengthen the vibrancy, sustainability, and livability of Medicine Hat’s city centre,” City of Medicine Hat Director of Economic Development Selena McLean-Moore said

A maximum of $30,000 is available to each applicant through two funding options.

A $15,000 grant funded by the City of Medicine Hat through Medicine Hat Economic Development, and the opportunity to apply for the matching funds through an interest-free loan of up to $15,000, provided by Community Futures Entre-Corp, with the City funding the interest costs.

Applications open online on April 1, 2026, at 8 a.m.

The City says they will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
