Success already on the horizon as Wheels of Opportunity program exceeds expectations

The Wheels of Opportunity program is exceeding expectations less than a month after its Feb. 26, 2026, launch.

Developed by Safety Buzz Campus, the program is a workforce initiative in Southeast Alberta designed to address the critical shortage of commercial drivers in the agricultural sector, providing Class 3 driver training, air brake endorsement and a range of agriculture safety certifications to youth and adults.

Since the launch, the program has approved 25 participants as of March 17, with 8 actively starting the program and already completing their air brakes certification.

Two participants have already shown significant progress, with one about two-thirds of the way through the program and another preparing for her Class 3 road test.

With participation well above the program’s target of 7–8 participants per month, Wheels of Opportunity is demonstrating strong momentum and clear demand across Southeast Alberta.
