Floyd Shillington
May 11, 1936 ~ March 9, 2026
Floyd Stuart Shillington passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Monday March 9, 2026, at the age of 89 years. Floyd was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, Keitha “Kay” Shillington; brothers, Keith and Garvin and parents, Dorothy and Vernie Shillington. Born in Carnduff, Saskatchewan, Floyd grew up in the surrounding Carnduff area where he farmed for many years. Life on the prairie helped shape the strong work ethic, quiet determination and steady character that defined him throughout his life. In the early 1970’s, he moved to Calgary where a shared love of dancing led him to meet Kay. Their connection on the dance floor soon grew into a deep and lasting partnership. In 1978, Floyd and Kay moved to Medicine Hat where they built their life together and became longtime members of Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church. Through the church, they formed many meaningful friendships and valued the strong sense of community it provided. Floyd will be remembered for his gentle manner, quiet strength and the devotion he shared with Kay throughout their years together. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Hillside Cemetery in Medicine Hat.
