Medicine Hat Tigers comeback effort falls short, drop 4-2 decision to the Edmonton Oil Kings

Feb 4, 2026 | 9:47 PM

The Medicine Hat Tigers comeback attempt fell short as they dropped a 4-2 decision to the Edmonton Oil Kings to conclude a three-game homestand.

The Tabbies found themselves on three third-period man-advantages but failed to capitalize on all three, including a 92-second five-on-three power play.

Dayton Reschny and Noah Davidson got the Orange & Black within a goal, but despite seeming inevitable, the Tigers were unable to break through and tie the game.

The Edmonton offense came courtesy of Dylan Dean, Carter Sotheran, Ethan MacKenzie, and an empty-netter from Gavin Hodnett.

Jordan Switzer turned aside 20 of 23 shots faced in the loss and was named the game’s third star.

Oil Kings netminder Ethan Simcoe made 25 stops on 27 targets and was named the game’s second star.

Tigers defenseman Jonas Woo picked up a pair of assists in the defeat and was named the game’s first star.

Medicine Hat is back in action Friday night in Swift Current when they kick start a home-and-home with the Swift Current Broncos.
