Jan 9, 2026 | 11:26 PM

After allowing three goals on the opening three shots of the game, the Medicine Hat Tigers scored the game’s final eight goals to rout the Seattle Thunderbirds 8-3, and extend their win streak to 16 games.

Bryce Pickford carried the offensive load for the Tabbies, collecting his second career hat-trick while adding a pair of assists in the win.

Markus Ruck added a goal and three assists, while his twin brother Liam added a goal and two assists, extending his goal-scoring streak to eight consecutive games.

Jordan Switzer came in to relieve Carter Casey, who was pulled after allowing three goals on six shots in the opening period, and turned aside all 15 T-Bird shots he faced en route to the win.

With the outing, Switzer’s second-half numbers improved to 5-0-0-0 along with a 1.07 GAA, 0.946 SV%, and one shutout.

20-year-old forward Andrew Basha picked up three assists on the night to increase his point total to five points through his first three games with the Tabbies.

Tigers defenseman Veeti Vaisanen left the game early in the first-period with an upper-body injury and did not return.

No update was given on Vaisanen post-game, who made his return to the Tiger lineup after representing Team Finland at the 2026 IIFH World Junior Hockey Championships in Minnesota.

Seattle’s scoring came courtesy of Vanek Popil, Cameron Schmidt, and Joe Gramer.

With the goal, Schmidt extended his point-streak to 22 consecutive games.

Grayson Malinoski allowed six goals on 20 shots in the loss before being pulled six minutes into the third period for Marek Sklenicka.

Sklenicka allowed two goals on 17 shots.

The Tigers are back in action on home ice tomorrow night when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes with an opportunity to tie their longest winning streak in franchise history of 17 games.
