Medicine Hat Tigers welcome in Red Deer Rebels for matinée affair

Dec 28, 2025 | 10:00 AM

The Medicine Hat Tigers welcome their divisional rival, the Red Deer Rebels, inside Co-op Place this afternoon for the second of eight meetings this season.

The Rebels won the lone other meeting of the season 4-3 in a shootout back on November 21st.

Since then, the Tigers have ripped off 11 straight wins and are aiming to tie their longest win streak of last season with another victory today.

The Tabbies kicked off the second half ot the Western Hockey League season last night in a dominant fashion with a 5-1 victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The Rebels were less fortunate, securing a point but falling 3-2 in overtime at home to the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Before even playing a game, the Rebels made some noise around the WHL, dealing star forward and Dallas Stars product Jaxon Fuder to the Oil Kings in exchange for forwards Poul Andersen (’07), Boris Sigachev (’09), Brock Stevenson (’09), and a conditional 2027 4th round pick.

The Rebels enter this afternoon’s tilt on a six-game losing skid and have not beaten a team with a winning record since November 30th.

Tigers defensemen Bryce Pickford and Jonas Woo both enter the game on nine-game point streaks, having combined for 47 points over that span while sitting fourth and fifth in the WHL in points.

Pickford leads all WHL skaters in goals with 26, and recently signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

Puck drop from inside Co-op Place is slated for 4:00 p.m MST with the pre-game show beginning at 3:30 on WILD 94.5 FM.
