YELLOW ADVISORY - BLOWING SNOW

Blowing snow advisory issued for Medicine Hat and area

Dec 10, 2025 | 4:06 PM

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a yellow warning for blowing snow in Medicine Hat and the surrounding area, and it is expected to develop by early Thursday morning.

The advisory was issued at 3:28 PM MST on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025.

ECCC says a few centimetres of snow combined with winds gusting up to 60 km/h are expected to create widespread blowing snow, particularly over open terrain.

Officials say visibility may become significantly reduced, but conditions are expected to improve by noon.

Residents are advised to postpone non-essential travel and use caution on the roads.

Drivers are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and maintain a safe following distance.

Those who become stranded are asked to stay in place until conditions clear.
