Yoga You4ia in Medicine Hat have patented the Stand Up Paddleboard Recreation Trailer

Nov 21, 2025 | 1:06 PM

The standup paddleboard (SUP) recreation trailer has been patented by Yoga You4ia in Medicine Hat to help develop yoga studios.

The trailer is designed as a fully equipped mobile paddleboard unit that can roll into new locations to host SUP yoga classes and rentals.

Yoga You4ia received a grant from Community Futures to fund the purchase of a six-by-12-foot cargo trailer, which includes enough boards and gear for up to 18 people.

The trailer is under 2,500 pounds and can be towed by most SUVs.

The grant was approved on July 6, 2020, and the business now operates under the brand You4ia SUP.

With the patent secured, You4ia plans to replicate and scale the trailer, making it available for purchase to buyers across North America.

The owner of Yoga You4ia, Salli Siewert, said a lot of the equipment and gear came from local businesses.

“The boards were from Flaman Fitness, and we got the trailer from Flaman,” Siewert said.

“Then a lot of the equipment and gear came from local businesses that had it in stock.”

Siewert said it was great to work with Community Futures and the community to make the SUP trailer possible.

“We’re really grateful for the grant because that’s what spurred us to be able to do it,” Siewert said.

“We’ve submitted the information at like five o’clock on a Friday. And [community futures] called me Monday afternoon, saying our big grant was approved,” she added.

“We wouldn’t have been able to do this without it. So we’re really appreciative of Community Futures for that.”

Yoga You4ia has entered a new chapter, according to Siewert.

“The studio will continue doing what it’s done in Medicine Hat as Yoga You4ia, and now this can move in a different direction under You4ia SUP,” Siewert said.
