Medicine Hat Police Service charge two men after theft from local business

The Medicine Hat Police Service patrol section responded to a report of a theft from a business at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Nov. 17, 2025.

The business is on the 2000 block of Strachan Road SE.

Police say the business’s loss-prevention officer intervened during the incident and was subjected to minor physical assault.

No injuries were reported.

Police quickly located the suspect vehicle nearby and arrested two men.

The driver, a 43-year-old Medicine Hat resident, is charged with shoplifting under $5,000 and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice on Dec. 17, 2025.

The second individual, 36-year-old Medicine Hat resident Cody Rak, is charged with robbery and breach of undertaking.

Rak was remanded into custody and is set to appear in provincial court on Nov. 25, 2025.
