March 4, 1928 ~ Bertha Schmidt ~ November 14, 2025

Bertha (Hartman) Schmidt beloved wife of the late William (Bill) Schmidt (2019) passed away November 14, 2025, at South Country Village, with her family at her side at the age of 97 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her family, Ron (June) Schmidt, Marlene (Wayne) Bodin, Randy (Cherie) Schmidt and Rodney Schmidt; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bertha was born on March 4, 1928, to Frederick and Magdalena Hartman at Kuest, Saskatchewan, just east of Richmound. Bertha married William Schmidt on October 14, 1950. They ranched in the Suffield District for a few years before moving to the Seven Persons area in 1958/1959. The two of them built their retirement home in Medicine Hat and moved into it in 1993. After William’s passing in 2019, Bertha took residence at the Good Samaritan’s Village. Later she moved to South Country Village until her passing on November 14, 2025. Bertha was a very energetic and loving person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 758-8^th Street SE, Medicine Hat, AB on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 11:00 am with Pastor Shane Hein officiating.
