Medicine Hat Tigers secure point but fall to Edmonton Oil Kings 4-3 in a shootout

Nov 7, 2025 | 10:59 PM

The Medicine Hat Tigers overcame two separate third-period deficits to force overtime, but fell 4-3 in a shootout to the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Kadon McCann tied the game at three with 41 seconds left in regulation to send the Tigers to overtime for the second straight night, but despite a six-round shootout, the Tigers failed to fool Ethan Simcoe.

Tigers defensemen Jonas Woo and Bryce Pickford each added a goal and an assist on the night, continuing their stellar offensive seasons.

Oil Kings forward Poul Andersen would secure the lone goal of the shootout, scoring in the sixth round with a nasty deke on Tigers netminder Jordan Switzer.

Switzer stopped 20 of 23 in the loss, while Simcoe stopped 32 of 35 in the victory.

The loss marks the first time this season the Tigers have lost three straight.

Despite that, the club has secured points in each of their last two games.

Medicine Hat is back in action tomorrow night, where they will aim to get back in the win column as they conclude a three-game homestand against the Brandon Wheat Kings.
