Terri Kusiak
May 19, 1972 ~ October 16, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Teresa “Terri” Kusiak on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the age of 53 years. Terri was born on May 19, 1972, in Creston, British Columbia, and grew up with a bright spirit and an adventurous heart. She graduated from high school in Cranbrook, B.C., in 1991 and went on to study at the College of the Rockies for Culinary Arts, where she developed her love of food and creativity in the kitchen. In 2006, Terri moved to Medicine Hat to work as a nanny for Ron, a lifelong friend she had known since they were 16. Their friendship blossomed and they would spend the next 20 years together. In 2010, she began her career as a Health Care Aide at CORE, dedicating 15 years of compassionate service to helping others. Her family is deeply proud to honourably receive her 15-year recognition plaque on October 23, 2025, presented in her memory. Terri will be remembered for her big heart, endless energy and her “gift of the gab.” She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and cared for. She was self-sufficient and resourceful — an avid crafter, gardener and had a wealth of knowledge about heritage seeds. Terri could handle a shotgun or compound bow with precise aim, demonstrating both her strength and skill. Above all, Terri treasured her family. The birth of her first granddaughter was one of the most joyful and meaningful moments of her life. Terri’s warmth, generosity and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed by her partner in life, Ron Briggs; children and blended family: Sasha Kusiak (Jordan Bitz), Lance Kusiak (Summer Hildebrand), Colorado Kusiak (Taylor Clavet), Lincoln Briggs, James Briggs (Brooklyn), Dylan Briggs and Damien Briggs; granddaughter, Magdalena Bitz and grandson, Boston Davidson; sisters by choice, Julia (Tim) McCrory and Twila Campbell as well as aunts, Monica Kusiak, Irene Kusiak, and Linda Kusiak; uncles Ludwig Kusiak and John Kusiak; cousins Nadine Kusiak and Serena Zimmer. Terri was predeceased by her mother, Gertrude Kusiak, uncle Klaus Kusiak and grandparents George and Mary Kusiak. A Celebration of Terri’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Murray Jaster officiating.
