Joanne Krutzler
January 18, 1959 ~ October 15, 2025
It is with an extremely heavy heart that Perry announces the unexpected passing of his loving wife, Joanne Gail Krutzler. Along with Perry, left to cherish Joanne’s memory are her son, Greyson Mackenzie Clark; siblings, Marjorie (Les) Wonnenberg, Carol Franz, Shirley (David †) Maurer, Janice (Larney) Deboer and Calvin (Melissa) Boschee as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members of the Krutzler family and a son by choice, Jessie Card. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Amanda Jean as well as by her parents, John and Jean Boschee.
Joanne was a lifelong resident of this area, with prairie dust in her veins and a deep love for the wide-open land she called home. She was raised on a farm in the Tothill district and learned the value of hard work early and carried that spirit with her throughout her life. Joanne attended school in Irvine and proudly kept in touch with many of her classmates over the years.
In her earlier years, she worked in road construction, helping to build the very routes she would one day travel. For many years, Joanne worked with the Medicine Hat News as a rural route driver, faithfully delivering papers through every kind of prairie weather—sun, snow, or storm—six days a week. Later, she spent many years with South Country Co-op, where her knowledge of animals made her the go-to person for advice—everyone knew Joanne was the one to ask.
She loved the farm life and everything that came with it. Horses, cows, dogs, and cats were all part of her world and she cherished them deeply. She was a proud member of the Rusty Spur Trail Riding Club and could often be found at cattle auctions, visiting the SPCA or just watching rodeo or her favorite cooking shows on tv. While she had a soft spot for most animals, she had no love for badgers, coyotes, or raccoons—she made that known with her trademark humour.
Joanne’s roots ran deep in prairie soil and she will be remembered for her grit, her loyalty, and her love for the land, the animals and the people who shared it with her.
