Video: Medicine Hat Mall hosts a four-day Water Circus from Cirque Italia

Cirque Italia features aerial straps, contortion, aerial hoops, laser lights, wheel of death, head balancing trapeze, aerial nets, horizontal bars, cyr wheel, slack rope, rollerskating, and aerial perch.

These unique features have custom-designed elements pushing the boundaries of human ability.

Kelly Ayala and Scarlett Diaz are performers with the Platinum Unit.

Ayala has been performing for nine years, and Diaz has been performing for five years.

This is the first year the Platinum unit has been with Cirque Italia, and the first year the performers have worked together.

Ayala said the performers are together every day and get along really well despite being a new unit.

“It’s kind of like a family environment, and everybody does everything with everybody, so it’s really fun,” Ayala said.

The unit has traveled in eastern Canada before coming to Medicine Hat.

“We started in Toronto, we went up to Quebec, and then we came down to Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, and now we’re here in Medicine Hat,” Ayala said.

“We also do the United States. Almost all 50 states except for Hawaii and Alaska.”

Ayala said it’s really great to be here in Medicine Hat and is very excited to perform for the people of Medicine Hat.

“I think they’re really gonna enjoy the show. I went to the mall, and everybody was so friendly, and it seemed like they were just really good people,” Ayala said.
