Medicine Hat election forum Friday featuring councillor and mayoral candidates, will be streamed

Candidates for Medicine Hat’s municipal election will take the stage at the Esplanade again Friday night for an election forum.

Hosted by the Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce, the event this time around will feature both councillor and mayoral candidates.

Over 300 people attended Wednesday’s event, with thousands more watching the online stream.

Friday’s election forum will start streaming at 5:45 p.m.

Doors open at 5 p.m. with a meet and great with the candidates, and the first group with 12 councillor candidates is underway at 5:45 p.m.

Candidates include Stephen Campbell, Robert Dumanowski, Don Fedoruk, Brock Hale, Pamela Kunz, Immanuel Moritz, Kaleb Orge, Dan Reynish, Kirby Schafer, Kirsten Spek, David Toth, and Brian Varga.

Wednesday had 23 of the 39 councillor candidates participate, with four not attending either event.

Those not participating are Mark Albrecht, Laura Butterfield, Dana Christensen, and Brian Robinson.

After 90 minutes, there will be an intermission at 7:15 p.m. followed by the mayoral candidates beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Scheduled to appear are Drew Barnes, Linnsie Clark, Andy McGrogan, Alan Rose, and Kris Samraj.

Mark Fisher is the only one of the six candidate for mayor who isn’t attending.

The event will conclude at 9 p.m.
