Lethbridge man faces several charges with concealed weapon during shoplifting complaint in Medicine Hat

A Lethbridge man faces several charges after a shoplifting complaint at a Medicine Hat business on Thursday.

Medicine Hat Police responded to the complaint on on Sept. 25, 2025, at about 11 a.m. at a business on Strachan Road Southeast.

During the investigation, officers identified a male suspect who was subject to an outstanding arrest warrant.

The individual was found to be in possession of a concealed replica semi-automatic pistol resembling a law enforcement sidearm.

Police said further investigation revealed the suspect was also in possession of a stolen identity document.

The 40-year-old man is charged with three counts of failure to comply with a release order, disobeying a court order, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of stolen identity documents.

He was held for a judicial interim release hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.

His next court appearance is scheduled for September 29, 2025, at Medicine Hat Provincial Court.
