Calgary man passes away after motor-vehicle collision near Brooks

A Calgary man has passed away after a motor-vehicle collision near Brooks on Wednesday.

Brooks RCMP were dispatched to a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 36 on Sept. 23, 2025, at 8:08 a.m.

Mounties said the initial investigation showed that a semi-truck was northbound on Highway 36 and proceeded through the intersection onto Highway 1, colliding with a westbound 2020 black Chevrolet Equinox.

Three additional vehicles were also hit by the semi-truck, causing minor damage, before it stopped in the west ditch of Highway 36, RCMP said.

The driver of the Equinox, a 62-year-old male resident of Calgary, was taken to a local hospital, where he passed away a short time later.
