Caroline Anne Grieve
1958-2025
Caroline Anne Grieve passed away suddenly at her home July 31, 2025, at the age of 67. Born in Edmonton, Alberta she spent her early years in the lower mainland of B.C. where she began her lifelong passion for music of all kinds. Encouraged by parents Ronald and Elise Grieve, Caroline learned to play piano, clarinet, keyboards and pursued singing opera. Her musical talent and creativity expanded into writing of original music, performance and touring with rock and roll bands across Canada. Caroline is survived by her children, Katie Dato, Cara (Dato) Tachovsky; her husband, Mark; Miles Dato with his wife, Katarina. Her memory will be cherished by her sister, Cathy Linowski and brothers Thomas and William (Bill) Grieve along with their families. Besides music, Caroline loved animals and always had at least one or two furry friends in her life. After moving to Medicine Hat, Caroline worked at a variety of jobs including retail, and in keeping with her big heart and love to help others, as a personal care assistant for seniors. Later in her life she discovered a passion and curiosity about alternative medicine and personal wellness. She held strong religious beliefs and enriched local churches with her music. Caroline will be remembered for her gifted playing of the oboe with the Medicine Hat Symphony orchestra and the Medicine Hat community band. Her smile would light up the room and her passing leaves a large hole in the hearts of her family, many friends and colleagues.
A memorial service will be arranged for a future date.
