Severe thunderstorm watch now lifted for most of southern Alberta including Medicine Hat

A severe thunderstrom watch was issued by Environment Canada for most of southern Alberta including Medicine Hat at 10:35 a.m. on Monday, July 28.

Thunderstorms took place in Medicine Hat during the the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 29.

There was no alert issued following this as of Tuesday morning.

Environment Canada said that conditions were favourable for the development of a dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain.

The weather agency said that thunderstorms were expected to develop over southern Alberta Monday afternoon and evening.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.

It’s advised to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada for the latest when a warning is in place.
