Man arrested after attempting to break into a Brooks home

A man attempting to break into a home in Brooks in the early morning of Tuesday, July 15 lead to an arrest by the Brooks RCMP.

At 4:10 a.m. Mounties responded to a 911 call, where they caller said they were asleep, and awakened by a loud banging at the front door.

The homeowner observed a male attempting to enter their home, who ultimately knocked the door off its hinges, according to Mounties.

Upon seeing the residents inside, the suspect fled on foot.

RCMP members arrived and searched the area.

The suspect was located and attempted to flee officers by jumping fences, Mounties said.

Following a short foot pursuit, a 39-year old man was arrested and charged with break and enter, resisting arrest, mischief and failure to comply with release order.

At the time of the incident, the man was bound by a court-imposed release order with several conditions, including to keep the peace and be in good behavior, Mounties said.

The man was remanded into custody to appear in Brooks Provincial Court on Wednesday, July 16th.
