Bernardine Meulenbroek
1932 – 2025
Bernardine Meulenbroek (Jeurgens) passed away surrounded by loved ones on July 11, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Wilhelmus; her children, Jack (Janet), Karel (Suat-tin) and Monique (Neermal Hosanee); her seven cherished grandchildren, Mark, Michael (Cait), Yvoneed, Daniel, Nathan, Melissa (Tom) and Cara (Adam); her beloved great grandchild, Kingsley.
Born in Aarle-Rixtel, Netherlands, the daughter of a renowned baker, Bernardine overcame the challenges of wartime and went on to serve as a nurse in Africa before marrying her beloved Wilhelmus in 1960. Together, they started a drugstore business, and in 1980, made the brave decision to immigrate to Canada. July 19th would be the 45th anniversary of their life as proud as proud Canadians. Here, they began a new chapter and built a loving home and life of opportunities for their family.
Bernardine was known for her unwavering positivity, kindness, determination, and deep love for family. She found joy in traveling, cooking, baking, long walks, and bike rides. She had a huge creative heart and enjoyed the arts of painting, stained glass, and knitting dolls for those in need. At the age of 87, she proudly earned 1st place in a half marathon, receiving a National Medal and still holding the record time for her age group.
We love you so much, Bernardine, Mom, Oma. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered for your joyful, generous, and loving spirit, as you begin your next journey in Heaven.
Funeral Mass will be held on July 15th, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Church at 11:00am. Donations in Bernardine’s memory may be made to World Vision. Condolences may be made at www.gracememorial.com.
