Medicine Hat man facing multiple drugs and weapons charges after arrest

A Medicine Hat man will face multiple drugs and weapons charges after being arrested by the Medicine Hat Police Service on Monday evening.

At 11:15 p.m. patrol members observed a vehicle travelling in the 400 block of 9th Street Southeast with a male passenger who was known to police.

Polices said a vehicle stop was conducted and after further investigation the male passenger was arrested and searched.

The 34-year old man was found to be in possession of 19.8 grams of cocaine packaged in five separate baggies, three fixed blade knives, two of which had brass knuckles on the handle and $2,330 in cash.

The man was held for a bail hearing and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, three counts of possession of a weapon dangerous, three counts of carry a concealed weapon, two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts breach of a weapon prohibition.

He was remanded into custody to appear in court on July 17.
