Cypress County‘s Brianna Finke and her former South Alberta Hockey Academy teammate goaltender Tayler Cohen will bring home silver medals from a world championship.

The pair represented Canada at the International Street and Ball Hockey Federation’s 2025 U20 Women’s World Junior Championships in Poprad, Slovakia.

Cohen was in net for Canada’s 5-1 loss to Czechia in the championship game stopping nine of 14 shots.

She played in three the teams five games with a 2.69 GAA and 0.854 Save %.

Finke played defence throughout the tournament, with a goal and an assist over five games at the event.

This was the second meeting between the teams at the event.

Canada had defeated Slovakia in the opening game on July 2 with a 2-0 win and a 17 save shutout for Cohen in that contest.

Canada would finish the group stage in top spot with four wins and no losses, which also included an 8-1 win over Slovakia, 19-0 dominance of Great Britian, and 7-0 stomping of the United States.

Top spot gave Team Canada a direct birth into the championship game, while Czechia defeated the host Slovakia team 5-1 to earn their birth in final.
