Medicine Hat library hosting ‘farewell to CHAT-TV’

Jul 8, 2025 | 5:20 PM

The Medicine Hat Public Library is hosting an event to honour and give a final farewell to those who used to work at CHAT-TV.

The Redcliff-based television station closed on June 3 due to what owner Pattison Media said was dropping support for local TV and economic pressures.

That left over a dozen employees without a job and a community without locally-produced television programming after 68 years.

The library’s farewell event starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and runs for an hour.

Several former staff who worked at the station will be on-hand to meet attendees, answer questions and share more about their time at CHAT-TV, organizers said.

More information is available on the library’s events calendar.
