Confirmed cases of measles in Taber prompts public alert by AHS

May 5, 2025 | 12:08 PM

Alberta Health Services said Monday it has been notified of additional confirmed cases of measles within Taber.

These cases have also been in a public setting while infectious.

Individuals who were in the following locations during the specified dates and times may have been exposed to measles:

April 27

Walmart at 4500 64 St., Taber

Exposure time period: 8 p.m. – 11:30 p.m

April 30

Dollarama at 5800 46 Ave. Unit B, Taber

Exposure time period: 10 a.m. – 12:10 p.m

April 30

A & A Store at 5206 49 Ave., Taber

Exposure time period: 10:20 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Taber is located about one-and-a-half hours west along Highway 3 from Medicine Hat.

Anyone who attended these locations at these times who was born in or after 1970 — and has less than two documented doses of measles-containing vaccine — is at risk for developing measles, AHS says.

They are strongly encouraged to review their immunization records and monitor themselves for symptoms of measles.

Measles is an extremely contagious disease and is spread easily through the air.
