Violet May Park passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the age of 96 years. She is survived by her children: Gary Park of Medicine Hat, Mildred Danyluk of Saskatoon, SK., Vera (Dave) Ilsley of Calgary, Helen (Wayne) Wilkins of Saskatoon, SK., Thelma (Bryce) Hassard of Elkwater and Lorraine (Rod) Seitz of Medicine Hat; daughter-in-law, Gloria Park; grandchildren: Gary’s children, Christalee, (James) and Robert; Mildred’s children, Bryce (Debi) and Jarett (Andrea); Vera’s children, Heather (Danny), Robert (Michelle) and Susan (Felipe); Helen’s children, Anna, Eliot and Ian; Don’s children, Kevin (Alison), Neil (Crystal) and Allison; Thelma’s children, Brett (Annessa) and Clay (McKenna); Lorraine’s children, Dylan and Darren as well as 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Violet is also survived by her siblings, Elaine and Clarence. Along with her husband, Verd, Violet was predeceased by her parents; six brothers; son, Don; son-in-law, Jerry Danyluk; grandsons, Danny and Derek and grandson-in-law, Hayden. Violet grew up in the Battrum, SK., area. In 1951, she moved to Broadacres and soon after met and married Verd. They had a mixed farm and took over the Park family homestead where they raised their family. Violet enjoyed cooking, sewing and baking and quickly adapted to farm life. In 1980, Violet and Verd retired to Medicine Hat where they found a new group of friends at the Veiner Centre. They enjoyed many years of dancing and playing cards until Verd’s health declined. Violet continued to run the Norwegian Whist Club and retired after 25 years. The family wish to extend their gratitude to the caring staff at Chinook Village where Violet resided for the past 2.5 years. A Celebration of Violet’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W. Medicine Hat on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery with a time of fellowship to follow in the Cook Southland Reception Facility.
