Medicine Hat Tigers’ forward signs entry-level contract with Florida Panthers

Medicine Hat Tigers forward Hunter St.Martin has signed an entry level contract with the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League.

St Martin signed the three-year deal with the Panthers after he had a strong showing at training camp earlier this year, getting into a pair of preseason games and putting up two points.

He was a sixth round pick of the Panthers in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

Panthers president of hockey operations and general manger Bill Zito told NHL.com that St. Martin is a skilled skater who has shown a tremendous amount of maturity and adaptability at a young age.

““We are excited for him to take the next step in his career with our organization,” Zito said.

The 19-year-old St. Martin leads the Tigers in goals with seven through eight games, adding an assist for a point per game pace.

An alternate captain with the Tigers, St, Martin has appeared in 152 games with the Tigers over four seasons with 82 points. Also playing putting up six points in nine playoff games over that time.

Speaking to CHAT News earlier in the season, St. Martin had reflected on his time at the Panthers training camp.

“Obviously it’s a dream come true. First of all, you show up there and it’s a bit surreal seeing all these top guys that you’ve watched on TV and now you’re sharing the same ice sheet with them and competing with them and kind of vying for the same thing,” St. Martin said.

“I had a really good time there and obviously was able to showcase my skills with some opportunity in those games and learned a lot,” he added.

“Coming back here and learning some winning things from the team who just won the Stanley Cup.”
