Eva Ottilia (Tillie) Schafer passed away at the age of 91years. She is survived by her children: Karen-Ann Hall (Richard), Marlene Schafer, Darvin Schafer, Lanna Morgan (Daryl); her grandchildren: Joseph Hall, Kathleen Glasgo (Tyler), Daniel Hall (Carmen), Dustin Morgan (Bryony) of Australia, Brendan Morgan (Maj) of Denmark; great-granddaughters: Oaklynn Glasgo, Ryann Glasgo and Vida Hall; her sister Kathleen Kuntz (Clem); brothers-in-law Robert Woolley, George Schafer, Ed Schafer (Marg), David Schafer (Cleora), Tony Schafer (Lucille), James Schafer (Sandy) her sisters-in-law Bernice Desrosiers (Bob) and Marie Wiedeman (Allan), Leona Leismeister, Ev Leismeister, Delores Schafer and Lillian Schafer.
She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years Joseph Nicholas Schafer, her parents Jack and Dorothy Leismeister, her brothers, Basil Leismeister, Frank Leismeister, Jack Leismeister (Carol), her sister Loraine Woolley, sister-in-law Theresa Schafer; brothers-in-law Sylvester Schafer, Philip Schafer, Ben Schafer; nephew Darcy Leismeister, niece Lacinda Kuntz; and her father and mother-in-law Anton and Eugenia Schafer.
Mom married our dad, Joseph Schafer June 19, 1954. They lived in Medicine Hat where they raised their four children. Mom was often in the kitchen, baking her famous buns and sweets which she absolutely loved to do. She loved to entertain, and had family and friends over for supper to visit and enjoy each other’s company. Her family was dear to her. She loved her children ,grandchildren and siblings with all her heart. When she was overjoyed, she was often seen with tears in her eyes. She will be dearly missed by all who were touched by her loving spirit. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the prayer service. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Thursday, September 5th at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in HOLY FAMILY PARISH (1451 Strachan Road S.E.) on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. with Fr. Iqbal Khurshid celebrant. A private family interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
