Medicine Hat police confirm 82-year-old woman killed in collision

An 82-year-old female pedestrian was killed the motor vehicle collision that occurred in a south end neighbourhood of Medicine Hat last week, a police spokesperson told CHAT News on Wednesday.

An investigation is still ongoing but no charges are anticipated, they added.

Emergency services swarmed to the scene of a fatal collision in the Meadowlands neighbourhood of Medicine Hat on Aug. 23.

Police initially closed a section of Southview Drive Southeast between Southview Court Southeast and Dunmore Road Southeast.

Nearly a dozen vehicles — including two fire trucks, at least six police units and an ambulance — were at the scene of a blocked-off stretch of Southview Drive Southeast.

A witness told CHAT News he saw people performing first aid on a senior person lying on the road. They added first responders arrived shortly at 7 p.m.
