Aug 24, 2024 | 7:00 AM

This is the week in review for Aug. 18-24, a look back at the top stories that shaped Medicine Hat over the last seven days.

🚃 Rail shutdown

A labour dispute led to Canada’s two largest railways shutting down at 10:01 p.m. MST on Wednesday.

Less than 24 hours later, the federal government intervened to seek binding arbitration through the industrial relations board.

It remained unclear as of Friday evening when both Canadian National Railway Co. and Canadian Pacific Kansas City Ltd. would be back up to full capability.
