Donald Kenneth Jack Stewart of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the age of 90 years, beloved husband of the late Irene Strewart. He leaves to cherish his memory two children Lynn (Scott) Werre of Redcliff and Dean Stewart (Anita LeBlanch) of Medicine Hat; two grandchildren DeAndra (Nick) Zeller and Ryan (Sarah) Werre; four great grandchildren Austyn, Ezekiel, Walker J and Mavrick as well as his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Irene on May 31, 2023; by his mother Christine Damm and one sister Cleo Bozsaki. Don was born on November 12, 1933, at Unger, Saskatchewan. On June 28, 1958, he married Irene Karikas in Regina where they resided until moving to Medicine Hat in 1976. In 1995, Don retired from CFB Suffield where he was a Foreman with the Civil Servants. While in retirement, he took every opportunity to be involved in his grandchildrens wide range of extra curricular activities. This meant he spent time in hockey rinks, baseball fields, on the golf course, in the gym and in the riding arena. He was well known in Southern Alberta in the rinks as he loved to chat with everyone. Don was very patriotic and loved anything and everyone Canadian. He was a collector of model trains, coins and military badges. He also liked to entertain with a good magic card trick. He will be greatly missed. A casual graveside service will take place at Hillside Cemetery on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Pat Grisonich officiating.
