The Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede parade wound its way through the city’s downtown core Thursday as hundreds of onlookers cheered and waved.

Premier Danielle Smith, who was scheduled to be the parade’s honorary marshall, had to cancel her appearances at the Stampede as she remained focused on the wildfire ravaging Jasper.

However, newly-minted NDP leader Naheed Nenshi was part of the parade.

Meanwhile, Medicine Hat Mayor Linnsie Clark rode in a C8 Chevrolet Corvette and Cypress County Reeve Dan Hamilton rode in the back of a red Chevrolet Camaro.
