Six Medicine Hat Mavericks players going to WCBL All-Star Game

The Medicine Hat Mavericks will be well represented at the Western Canadian Baseball League All-Star game June 20 in Okotoks at Seaman Stadium.

The six players representing the Mavs will be two pitchers Jack Novak and Jacob Petersheim, outfielder Jordan Phillips, second baseman Marshall Burke, third baseman Tyler Vanneste, and catcher Nick Thibodeau.

Novak is tied for league lead in wins with four, Petersheim just behind with three wins thus far, both pitchers have yet to lose a game.

Petersheim also sports the second best earned run average in the league at 2.68.

Phillips leads the Mavs with 38 runs batted in and sits fifth in the league, also sitting at a .368 batting average for 13th in the league.

Burke leads the league in appearances at the plate with 157, while still sitting at a .318 batting average

Vanneste has the top batting average on the Mavs and sits in 8th in the league.

Thibodeau sits tied for sixth in the league with seven home runs and sixth in runs batted in with 37. Also 19th in the league for batting average at .348.

The Mavericks are second place in the WCBL East Division with a 21-14 record 2.5 games back of the Regina Red Sox for first.

Winning five of their last six games the Mavericks host the Edmonton Prospects for their only meeting this season Thursday night.

Three games at Athletic Park against the Moose Jaw Miller Express the next three days following Friday through Sunday.

Moose Jaw sits one game back of the Mavericks in the East Division standings and have dropped their last two games after winning eight games straight prior.
