Ray passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 7, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Carmel Hospice. He leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life, his wife Shirley, two sons, Tim (Sharon) and Marvin (Candida); his grandchildren Madison, Tia, Chinara, Brandon (Skye), Mason and Haley; his great grandchildren Hudson, Claire, Talia, Layla and Levi as well as his brother Wayne (Celine). He was predeceased by his parents Fredrick and Phyllis Spackman, his son Danny and his sister Gwenda Essex. Ray was born in Neepawa, Manitoba on July 27, 1939. In 1968, he met the love of his life at the Royal Hotel jam session and they were married shortly thereafter. Ray was known as the “Gentle Giant Bass Player”. He was a jack of all trades, including being a firefighter for the Town of Irvine and Fort McMurray. He was a Journeyman Electronics Technician and was the “R” in R & W Electronics. Ray was not only a big man in size but also in heart. In keeping with his wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.
