‘Speed friending’ returns to Medicine Hat library

Jun 20, 2024 | 3:09 PM

The Medicine Hat Public Library’s popular “speed friending” is making a return with a pair of upcoming events.

An all-ages speed friending session will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Another session for those age 55 and older is scheduled for 2 p.m. on June 26.

Considering how popular the sessions were when the library last held them, marketing head Chris Brown says those who want to go should register as soon as possible.

“When we hosted speed friending for the first time in March it was so well-received that we had almost as many people on the waitlist as we were able to have in the program,” Brown said.

The library hopes participants build lasting friendships.

“We know how important social connection is to people’s mental health and we’re always looking for ways we can have a positive impact in the community,” Brown added.
