John Charles Hughes
1953-2024
It is with great sadness that the family of John (Jack) Charles Hughes announce his sudden passing on May 25, 2024 at the age of 71. Jack is lovingly remembered by his children Jason (Kaitlin) and Kristina (Mark) and their mother Gwen; as well as granddaughters Sierra and Avery.
Jack was born on May 10, 1953 in Vancouver, BC to Richard and Reta Hughes. He was the fourth oldest of nine siblings. In his early 20s, Jack moved to Calgary and pursued a life long career in Parts which included owning and running his own Auto Parts Store. He spent 30 years married to Gwen and raising a family together. He was actively involved in the Drag Racing Community, enjoyed camping with his family, and supported his children in many different sports and community programs.
In later years, Jack loved to travel and scuba dive. One of his fondest destinations was Roatán, Honduras where he escaped from the cold Canadian winters. When he wasn’t travelling, Jack could always be found giving a helping hand and loved to spend his time volunteering at various organizations. Jack made friends wherever he went and his presence will be missed far and wide.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 21, 2024 from 2-5PM at the Parkridge Estates Community Hall (222 Burroughs Cir NE, Calgary, AB T1Y 6K3).
