The Medicine Hat Health Foundation’s executive director is being recognized by Alberta Health Services as a leader in health care philanthropy across Alberta.

The director, Heather Bach, was born and raised in the Medicine Hat and started with the foundation 15 years ago after working in retail management for several years.

Bach is a lifetime volunteer and says she deeply enjoys giving back to her community, according to a release from Alberta Health Services.

Over the past few years, the foundation has seen tremendous success allowing them to grow their team and increase their impact in their community, according to the release.

Currently, the foundation is fundraising to replace all the cardiac monitors in the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.

These successes are made possible through Bach’s work.

“I get to make a difference for my whole community because at the end of the day, everyone accesses healthcare at some stage in their lives, so this is my way of being able to make a significant impact to those around me,” Bach said.

“I know the work of the foundation will affect them at some point and it’s an honour to be a part of that.”
