IDA SEITZ (nee Stuber)
1923 – 2024
Our beloved Ida Seitz passed away at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, March 23, 2024, at the age of 100 years. She leaves to cherish her memory, son Allen Seitz and two daughters, Sharon Friesen and
Beverley McDougall; one sister Lena Stuber; five grandchildren, Monte Friesen, Mitchell (June) Friesen, Vanessa Friesen, Alison (Roger) Wilcox, Sean McDougall; and eight great grandchildren. Besides her loving husband, Gottfred Seitz, Ida was predeceased by her parents Erhard Stuber and Maria Magdalena Kriel, five sisters, four brothers, and son-in-law Don Friesen.
Ida was born and raised in Tothill, Alberta, the 7th of 11 children. She farmed and ranched with her husband in Little Plume, Alberta, managing a dizzying load of raising kids, growing food, milking cows, toiling in the fields, working cattle, and driving school bus, all before moving to Medicine Hat to work as a nurse’s aide, then in retail at K-Mart. She was a dedicated church member, spending much of her time helping with meals and special events. Ida would recount the best stories about the “Royal Quilters”, a group of church ladies who worked together sewing and selling quilts to support church needs. Ida will be remembered for her selflessness, faith, perseverance and hard work ethic, all carried out with joy and a great sense of humor. She was a prayer warrior! All who had needs, went on her list of petitions to “the Father”. She just wanted everyone to know her Jesus. Her life was in service to her family and community, full of energy even to the end. Though we miss her terribly, heaven is rejoicing!
