Wellspring Alberta receives funding from Medicine Hat Health Foundation

A donation from the Medicine Hat Health Foundation will bolster efforts to offer in-person cancer support programs for those living in Medicine Hat and area.

The funding in the amount of $48,000 to Wellspring Alberta will help the registered charity in it’s efforts to bridge the gap in services and ensure people can access the support and tools they need to cope with cancer and live as well as possible.

In a release, Wellspring says it offers free programs for cancer patients and their families designed to provide connection and belonging, ease pain, fatigue and distress; build strength and mobility; and support financial and workplace challenges.

It says it’s the only organization that devotes itself exclusively to the unique non-medical needs faced by cancer patients.

Programs are available online, over the phone or in-person, to meet with people where they are or where they feel most comfortable.

The Medicine Hat Health Foundation is the official charity of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and Alberta Health Services for southeastern Alberta.

This contribution to Wellspring marks the first time the Foundation has given a gift to benefit the community directly.

“This is an exciting time for our Foundation as we partner with Wellspring to improve and enhance the support to families in our community experiencing cancer,” said Heather Bach, Executive Director of Medicine Hat Health Foundation.

Wellspring’s programming in Medicine Hat comes after recently launching the same service in Lethbridge and Red Deer.
