A closed session of Medicine Hat city council that started before Monday’s regular meeting and was extended into the next day came to a close without any open business, officials confirmed to CHAT News on Wednesday.

The closed meeting — where members of council discuss sensitive items out of the public’s view — was adjourned ahead of the open meeting Monday and reconvened afterward.

The closed session came to an end just before 9 p.m. Monday night and was scheduled to start again Tuesday afternoon.

The city’s communications department said the closed meeting came to a close around 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

There were three items listed for the closed meeting agenda: a legal proceedings update, a resident concern and an information request.

If council passed any motions, it would have been carried out in the public part of the meeting that takes place after the private session.
