Norman Annon
September 3, 1938 ~ February 23, 2024
With sadness, family announce the passing of their brother, Norman Dean Annon in Bow Island on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the age of 85 years. Norman was predeceased by his parents, Walter (1978) and Hazel (1980) (nee Henningsgard) Annon as well as one brother, Darrel Annon (1991). Left to mourn Norman’s passing are his sisters, Donna Jenkins and Carol Bergdahl both of Bow Island; brother, Ritchie Annon of Calgary; niece, Linda Volk; nephews, Larry Jenkins, David Jenkins, Shane Bergdahl, Scott Bergdahl and Dann Bergdahl. Norman left home in 1956 at the age of 17 and joined the Air Force. After spending time out east, he was shipped over to Germany which he enjoyed immensely. After 10 years of service, Norman left the military and lived in Calgary for a short time before going to work with Canada Post in Winnipeg. From there he moved to Ottawa where he continued to work for Canada Post until his retirement. In 2017, taking his age into consideration, he decided it was time to move closer to family. He purchased a place in Lethbridge at Park Bridge Estates and really enjoyed living there, visiting with his neighbors and playing cards. He loved to play crib, quite often winning and sharing his success with everyone by jingling the coins in his pocket while talking about going for lunch at his favorite place, Tim Horton’s! In October 2023, with Norman starting to suffer with dementia, family moved him into the Pleasant View Lodge in Bow Island so that his sisters could keep an eye on him. It took him a while to settle in as it was so different, but he came to love it there. He will be dearly missed. A Private Family Graveside Service honouring Norman’s life will be held on April 20, 2024. (Condolences may be made by visiting www.cooksouthland.com) In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Norman may do so through a donation to the Pleasant View Lodge, Box 6700, Bow Island, AB., T0K 0G0, or to the Bow Island Health Centre, payable to the Bow Island and District Health Foundation, Bag 3990, Bow Island, Alberta, T0K 0G0.
