Dale Joseph Labadie, beloved partner and soulmate to Sherry Aadland, passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat on Friday, November 24, 2023, at the age of 68 years. Along with Sherry, Dale is survived by his son, Bradley Hertz (Brittany St. Denis); one sister, Tammy Minshull Cadotte (Jim Siddall) and her child, Emily Cadotte; brother-in-law, David; sister-in-law, Joanne Minshull and her children, Douglas (Gillian) Minshull and David Minshull as well as numerous in-laws; Bradley’s mother, Anita Hertz; Gord Harrison as well as many close friends. He was predeceased by his Meme, Rosalind Morrison and Pepe, Joseph Morrison; his mother, Joanne Minshull and a brother, Barry Minshull. Dale was born and raised in Chatham, Ontario. He started working at a young age baking clay tiles, then worked at Libby’s processing plant and Daymond before moving west. In 1989, he studied to become a mason with one of his projects including work on the Banff Pedestrian Bridge. He also enjoyed a number of years working with Advanced Plating. Dale was very intelligent and had a thirst for knowledge. He was constantly learning new things and took each opportunity to share that knowledge with others. Dale cared or loved deeply for so many and he showed it in a million different ways. He was a great story teller, and loved to draw smiles and laughter from those he was visiting with. Dale made the most of each day and always found time for his music. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed making knives and leather working. Dale especially enjoyed cooking with Sherry as well as motorcycles and all things outdoors. He was an avid supporter of the Medicine Hat Rifle and Revolver Club where he was the Vice-President of Safety Training and the Rifle Director. He designed the 300 yd benches, the cover for the 100 yd, and ran the Bench Rest League and rifle matches. When looking back on his accomplishments, he always felt that his greatest achievement in life came with the birth of his son, Brad. A Celebration of Dale’s life will be held at a future date with further announcements at that time.
