Hat High Hawks preparing for provincial quarterfinals

Nov 10, 2023 | 4:16 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat High School Hawks are heading to the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association provincial quarter-finals tomorrow. They’ll be playing against the Holy Trinity Knights from Okotoks, in the Methanex Bowl in Medicine Hat.

To get to this point, Hat High had to defeat Crescent Heights high in the Rangeland Conference Championship. Then, they defeated Lethbridge in Zones.

Last year, the Hawks lost to Holy Trinity in the quarters, eventually leading Holy Trinity to the provincial championship.

However this year on their home turf, Head coach of the Hawks, Quinn Skelton, is hopeful for a different outcome.

“We’ll all be nervous, I’m sure it’ll be a pretty rough night of sleep for everybody tonight getting wound up for tomorrow,” says Skelton. “We’re putting our hours in, putting our time in and we’ll be prepared and we’ll just have to see how we come out and play on Saturday. But we know HTA (Holy Trinity Academy) is going to be tough.”

The game starts tomorrow at 2:30.
