Male suspect in custody after weapon-related disturbance

MEDICINE HAT, AB – According to a Medicine Hat Police Service press release, a male suspect is currently in custody, facing a series of weapons-related charges in connection with an incident that transpired earlier this morning.

On September 11, at around 12:10 AM, the MHPS received a distress call from the 900 block of 2nd Street SE. The report indicated the presence of an individual wielding a weapon, causing damage to property, and attempting unauthorized entry into a suite within a multi-unit residential building.

Patrol officers arrived at the scene and confined the male suspect to a specific suite, where they ascertained his possession of a weapon. Due to the ensuing threat posed by the suspect, the MHPS Tactical Team and crisis negotiators were summoned to provide assistance.

At approximately 3:30 AM, officers were able to secure entry to the residence and apprehend the suspect without any untoward incidents or harm inflicted upon either the suspect or the responding officers.
